This species is native to Central and South America and lives in Amazon regions

rather the colors originate from optical interference

Blue Diadem SWAG Papua New Guinea and theHypolimnas salmacis is found mainly in open or degraded forest, but also occurs in riverine forest habitats and in dense savannah throughout most of sub Saharan Africa from Sierra Leone to Sudan and Ethiopia, and south as far as Congo, Uganda and n. w. Tanzania. This specimen is encased in a 9"x9" frame.
